As your second trimester comes to an end, here are the symptoms that you can expect
Your main symptom at this stage will be Braxton Hicks. These are very normal, practice contractions that can feel like mild menstrual cramps, as your uterus tightens and relaxes. Your uterus has already been contracting at irregular intervals throughout your pregnancy, and is now just gearing up for the real thing when it comes later in your pregnancy. Don’t worry however if you don’t get these, as many pregnant women don’t experience them at all. However, it is important to notice if you do get cramps at regular intervals, and they are painful, you could be having a premature labour and should contact your midwife or doctor straight away.Rib pain is common at this stage, as your baby and uterus are growing bigger, and will therefore begin to push against your ribcage. Your ribcage can rise by 5 cm! Your baby will also be pushing on your stomach causing indigestion and heartburn so look out for these symptoms. You may get stitch like pains down the sides of your abdomen, which occur as your uterine muscles stretches. Now find out what you should be doing this week…
