Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • 175g red skinned apple
  • 25g plain flour
  • 2tsp caster sugar
  • 1pinch ground cinnamon
  • 7g butter

Method

  1. Peel, core and slice the apples, put in a microwaveable dish with two tablespoons of water. Cover and microwave on ‘high’ for two minutes or until the fruit is tender. Break up with a spoon until mushy then spoon into the base of three small or one medium ovenproof dish.
  2. Place the flour, sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl (or food processor) then rub in the butter until it looks like crumbs. Scatter on top of the stewed apples.
  3. Bake at 180C/350F/Gas mark 4 for 20-25 minutes or until the crumble is golden. Cool. Serve warm with a little natural yogurt spooned over.

Hints and tips

  1. Egg free and vegetarian.
  2. You could also add a few blackberries to the apple to add colour and flavour.
