  • Help for breastfeeding and expressing mums

Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding or combining breast and bottle there are products out there that can really help make feeding your baby easier.

Firstly, a good nursing bra is vital – for your comfort and for discreet feeding in public. Then, a nipple cream to soothe any soreness and breast pads to soak up those embarrassing leaks are both on the list.

If you’re combining breast and bottlefeeding, you’ll want a bottle design that makes switching between teat and nipple easier, a good breast pump for expressing – either a manual for occasional use or an electric pump for more regular expressing – and a steriliser.

And to help you feel like a woman, not just a mum, we’ve found the sexiest nursing bra around, which has combined glam looks with true comfort.

Here’s our pick of the top 10 items every breastfeeding mum should know about…

  • Emma Jane nursing bra (428-Mary), £25

The Emma Jane Nursing Bra 428 Mary is an ideal breastfeeding basic. This nursing bra offers good support, is comfy to wear and the drop cups are super ease to unclasp and re-clasp. The cups are made of breathable cotton and have seams that won’t rub, which is music to the ears of any breastfeeding mum with sore nipples.

Our MFM reviewer found it invaluable, and described it as comfy and practical.

You can leave it on while breastfeeding too, with our reviewer noting her baby didn’t notice it was there at all. A little goes a long way, so don’t get too worked up about the price tag. • Johnson's breast pads, £3.98

Johnson’s Baby Nursing Pads are absorbent, leak-proof breast pads. Our reviewer said these were so good you’ll even forget you’ve got them in your bra. The shape means they’re not visible through your clothes, and the adhesive strip works really well at keeping them exactly were they should be. If you’ve got sore nipples, you’ll be delighted to hear these pads have a handy nipple indentation.
