The most popular baby names last year are revealed
The hottest baby names in America for 2011 have been revealed in an annual list released by the US Social Security Administration.
It seems that parents could be taking inspiration from film characters and reality TV stars. The names Jacob and Isabella, both characters in the blockbuster movie series The Twilight Saga, ranked highly (though Jacob has been in the top spot for more than a decade). The name Mason, which is the name of reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian’s son, entered the top five for boys.
Jacob came top as the most popular name for boys for the 13thyear in a row. While Mason jumped 10 places and knocked Michael out of the top five boys baby names for the first time in 63 years, reports the Guardian.
Sophia is the new most popular baby name for girls, seeing Isabella dropped to second place after being the top girls name for two years.
