British mum Gillian Holden, 35, has celebrated a one in 750,000 experience after giving birth to quadruplets, reports the Telegraph.
The quadruplets are all girls and were delivered early – at just 28 weeks and one day - by caesarean in St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. Each of Gillian’s newborns is about 8 inches long.
Gillian, from Farnworth, Bolton, conceived the quads without the help of IVF. It was only later in her pregnancy that her fourth baby, Lucy, was detected, and she realised she wasn’t having triplets after all! Lucy is the youngest by a minute or two.
Bethany was born first, weighing 1lb 15 oz - that’s 896 grams! Millie arrived next, weighing 2lb 2oz. Ellie was third, weighing 1lb 7 oz. Lucy arrived last, weighing 1lb 14oz.
Just the three ‘older’ sisters - Bethany, Millie and Ellie - are identical. Lucy was fed by a different placenta to them, though doctors aren’t certain if she was from the same egg or not.
Gillian and her fiancé Marc Hanley, 47, are already parents to Abbie, 8.
