A mum-to-be has told how she was persuaded to drive 500 miles at 37 weeks pregnant by her Scottish hubby, who wanted their baby to be born in his homeland.
Leanne McDermaid, 30, drove the 500 miles from Aldershot in Hampshire to Arbroath in Angus when she was 37 weeks pregnant. She gave birth to baby Chloe 3 weeks later.
Leanne stayed with her sister-in-law while she waited for her husband Danny to arrive from his Army barracks in Aldershot. He then joined his wife in Scotland ten days before little Chloe made her entrance.
“Danny convinced me it was a normal occurrence for Scotsmen to do this,” explained Leanne. “I think the journey was 508 miles in total.”
Despite admitting the driving was a bit uncomfy with a big bump, Leanne reckons if the couple have another, they’ll be heading back to Scotland for birth number two.
