Mum Gillian and dad Marc celebrate as Baby Ellie is allowed to join her sisters at home after six months in hospital
When Gillian Holden unexpectedly gave birth to naturally conceived quadruplets in February, she and husband Marc endured a dreadful wait to discover if their four new daughters would be alright.Gillian, 35, suffered pre-eclampsia, and when only 28 weeks pregnant she had to deliver her babies by emergency ceasaren. The girls, who weighed a combined 7lb 6oz (3.35kg) spent months in incubators being looked after by doctors and nurses. One by one, the sisters were released back into the care of their parents. “I’m absolutely over the moon, couldn’t be happier,” said mum Gillian.“It’s been such a long wait and now all my babies are home.”Ellie, who has been reunited with sisters Bethany, Millie and Lucy, was named by her big sister Abbie, 9. Abbie has taken an active part in helping to look after her new siblings, and said, “Before, I didn’t really have anyone to play with and now I have four sisters.“Some of the other girls at school are jealous I have so many sisters. “I’m a very good big sister because I help them eat and change their nappies.”
