David Beckham reduces young boy to tears in photobooth
The football superstar jumped into snaps with the unsuspecting public in London
What would you do if David Beckham appeared in your photobooth? For one young fan, Christian Lewis, the sight of his sporting hero was so overwhelming that he broke down in tears of joy.
Beckham’s booth-based prank took place in the Take The Stage booth at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre. As fans preened and posed in the specially designed booth, minutes away from London’s sporting epicentre, Beckham leapt out and joined them in the frame, to rapturous response.
Schoolboy Lewis, who was with his mother, Elaine, burst into tears when Beckham first appeared but made a swift recovery when he was wrapped in a hearty bear hug by his idol and ended his photoshoot in a jubilant air-punching gesture.
Beckham, who lost out on a place in Team GB’s football squad, described being part of the winning Games bid via an interview on Twitter, saying, “It was one of the proudest moments of my life, an incredible experience that I’ll never forget”. The LA based family man also proved he hasn’t lost his British roots, describing his ideal pie and mash order, “That’s two pies, two mash, with extra liquor and jellied eels”.
