Viewers flood the BBC with complaints over the cot death and baby swap storyline screened on New Year’s Eve
After it was revealed that EastEnders was set to screen an emotional storyline involving a cot death and desperate baby swap by the bereaved mum, many of you were concerned. It seems that you weren’t alone, as 3,400 viewers have complained about the plot after it was screened on New Year’s Eve.
Despite EastEnders producer Bryan Kirkwood recently saying that the plot was filmed with the guidance of the Foundation for Sudden Infant Deaths (FSID), thousands disagreed and sent in their complaints to the BBC making this storyline the most controversial yet.
“We appreciate that this is a challenging storyline and have taken care to ensure viewers were aware of the content in advance of transmission,” Bryan Kirkwood exaplined to The Press Association. “We also provided action line numbers at the end of each show, offering advice and support to those affected by the issues.”
Did you watch the episode?
I think that people making complaints after watching the baby swap episode is wrong, afterall i think even though it is a sensitive area, this plot was a good storyline for viewers to watch. At the end of the day eastenders is just a tv programme which is not real, if people dont like what they see, dont watch it. I think this is pathetic, the world we live in, people love making complaints after something they saw on tv that they didnt like, thanks to these people eastenders script writers have shorten the story to early spring and the actress that plays ronnie is leaving....... what a shame....
