US rapper Kanye West has reportedly invested in two armoured vehicles to protect partner Kim Kardashian and their baby daughter North from "weirdos and psychopaths", a source told the Daily Star.

The high-security monster truck, called the ‘Iron Diamond’, is made by Latvian company Dartz Motorz, and is designed to prevent kidnapping, hijacking, landmines, rocket-propelled grenades and "other problems which can meet rich and lonely lady on the street", the company claims.

These extravagant purchases come shortly after President Obama name-checked Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in a speech he made about the deterioration of American values: "The American dream involved some pretty basic stuff…I don't think people went around saying to themselves, 'I need to have a 10,000-square-foot house.’

“Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success," he went on.

Kanye’s blow out purchases are thought to be inspired by fellow family man Jay Z, who also stepped up security when his wife Beyonce gave birth to their daughter Blue Ivy in 2012.
