Lily Allen admits to miscarriage fears

Celebrity mum-to-be Lily Allen has revealed the reason why she kept her pregnancy under wraps – she was scared she’d suffer another miscarriage.

The 25-year-old singer, who announced her pregnancy news last month, only just unveiled her growing baby bump last night at the film premiere of Tamara Drewe, her second appearance since announcing her pregnancy (the first was at The Big Chill festival where self-conscious Lily banned photographers).  However, her reasons for being coy beforehand were because of complications in her early pregnancy.

“I came off the Pill and weirdly, a week later it happened. But then it was really difficult – I had complications,” Lily told the Daily Record. “I had about a week and a half of really heavy bleeding and had to have lots of scans – I’ve been living in fear for the past three months.”

The singer suffered a miscarriage in 2008 when she was expecting a baby with her ex-partner Ed Simons.

If like Lily, you’ve experience heavy bleeding during your early stages of pregnancy, take a look at MFMs advice on what it means. Or if you’ve had a miscarriage, check out our guide on how to cope and advice on when to try again after miscarriage.
