Singer says motherhood has helped her beat shyness
Former Spice Girls member Mel C has revealed how her 3-year-old daughter Scarlett has made her more courageous.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she said: “I never expected the changes that came with being a mum.”
“One of my overwhelming feelings was that I had to make Scarlett proud of me. This made me brave in areas where I’d been shy.”
38-year-old Mel, who is to star in a new touring version of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar this month, expressed how spending time with her little one is the best part of her day.
She said: “Now I enjoy the feeling of being settled at home with her. My favourite part of the day is having breakfast with her. Scarlett astounds me with her maturity. She’ll give me a cuddle and say, ’Are you OK, mummy?’”
The singer recently spilt from Scarlett’s father, Thomas Starr, after 10 years of being a couple.
Mel explained: “Looking after Scarlett is a team effort. It’s important to share the same ideas about bringing up a child, and luckily we do.”
