Michelle Obama’s girls not so keen on White House sleepovers

Michelle reveals her daughters think their friends' houses are more interesting for sleepovers

Michelle Obama has shared that her daughters prefer to skip sleepovers at The White House, favouring their friends’ houses instead.

The First Lady said that her daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, prefer to spend time at friends’ homes instead of having sleepovers at their house.

“My kids are like every other kid in the sense that everybody else’s house is more interesting than their house,” Michelle said during an event for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, which endeavors to show children the value of their education and a balanced work and family life, and her Let’s Move inititive, which aims to get kids more active and healthy.

“We do sleepovers, but [The White House] is not their first choice,” Michelle said.

“I thought we’d have kids over every weekend,” Michelle said. “So it’s surprising.”

Michelle also spoke about who her kids look up to and see as role models. “I think in the end our kids look up to us, first and foremost, whether they admit it or not,” she told People magazine. “We are our kids’ first and best role models…Everyone else is just a symbol of something. You don’t really get to know them well enough to idolise them or to have them impact your lives unless you’ve had a unique experience,” said Barack Obama’s wife.

Michelle mentioned Beyonce, who famously penned a letter praising Michelle as a mother.

“My girls love Beyonce. They’ve met her, but they don’t know her.,” Michelle said. “They think she’s cool, they love dancing. She seems like a good mom. They’re rooting for her, but they know me. So I think for them, that’s why I’ve got to have my stuff together,” she said.

Here at MFM we’d love to have a sleepover at The White House! Would you?
