Myleene Klass calls breastfeeding bullies 'Breastapo"

Myleene Klass has taken to Twitter to personally defend mums who she feels are being made to feel guilty if they stop breastfeeding early.

Calling the critics the "Breastapo", new mum Myleene warned that negativity towards new mums who decide not to keep breastfeeding can be damaging to new mums. She also says she breastfeeds for her baby, not to satisfy others.

"I breastfeed for my family, not to pacify the Breastpo," Myleene tweeted. "I think people should be very careful when it comes to judging how others raise their children."

Myleene, 33, also added, "Aren't we all just doing the best we can? Besides, you never know what a person's circumstances are."

Myleene's tweets come shortly after fellow celeb new mum Kym Marsh found herself in the middle of a heated breastfeeding debate, after she revealed that she had stopped breastfeeding her daughter Polly.

I like the word breastapo - good for you Myleene. I had to give up breastfeeding when our daughter was 7 weeks old as it was giving me pins and needles in my right arm due to an old injury to my shoulder. After nearly dropping our daughter after a night-time feed I decided it was time to change. Our daughter is now 3 and is hardly ever ill (they say breastfeeding gives babies a better imune system) and is (so we are told) above average in intelligence (they say breastfeeding makes for more inteliigent children). Isn't it better to feed your baby something rather than nothing? About 1 years ago

'Breastapo' or 'breastfeeding Nazi' as tearms are all very well and good, but only if people start to acknowledge that there is a 'Formula Stasi'. I've never felt pressured into breastfeeding, but from the day after having my son, I've had midwives, health visitors and relatives going on at me to give formula. Like many I topped up, but felt bullied into it by health professionals telling me 'I didn't have enough milk', even though top ups can just exacerbate the problem. It took three months, and meeting a lovely, gentle lactation consultant - not a 'Nazi' - before I could finally EBF.

I don't think in reality either exist, and a lot of it is perception, and women's own disappointment that whatever they've chosen is not accepted or supported by others, but at least acknowledge that it happens on both sides.

Mylene's got a book out, yes? Or maybe she's promoting her kids clothing range. Ugh. Thing is, I agree with her, but she's just so self serving!
