Actress reveals why she didn’t use the term ‘surrogate mum’, after her daughter was born
When the news that actress Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban had welcomed their second daughter by surrogate, it was a surprise to us all. However, what was more surprising was Nicole’s official statement following the birth, where she referred to the surrogate mum as a “gestational carrier”.
Many criticised Nicole’s choice of words and now the mum-of-two has spoken out to explain why she didn’t use the word ‘surrogate.’ “We were trying to be accurate,” Nicole said recently, reports Celebrity Baby Scoop.
“The term ‘gestational carrier’ is used if it’s your biological child and if it isn’t, then you use ‘surrogate’. I mean, who knows what it is. But she’s the most wonderful woman to do this for us.”
