Myleene Klass becomes a midwife (kind of) for the day
Mum-of-two Myleene tweets adorable pic as she joins a team of midwives and launches new campaign
Marks & Spencer model and mum-of-two Myleene Klass pulled on a pair of scrubs as she shadowed midwives at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital yesterday.
Myleene wasn’t planning a new career – she was launching Save the Children’s Build It For Babies appeal, which aims to raise £1million to build seven life-saving maternal health clinics in Bangladesh.
The 34-year-old singer turned TV personality shared a cute snapshot on Twitter of her cuddling up to newborn babies on the maternity unit. “On midwife duty. OMG. My ovaries hurt, I don't wana give them back!#builditforbabies,” Myleene tweeted.
Earlier this year, Myleene visited Bangladesh with Save the Children in a bid to raise awareness for the campaign.
“Bangladesh is one of the worst countries in the world to start a life. Eight out of 10 mothers give birth in their home without a skilled health worker present, putting their own lives, and the lives of their babies at risk,” said Justin Forsyth, Save the Children’s Chief Executive.

This isn’t the first time Myleene teamed up with midwives. In 2010 Myleene joined the midwifery team at the Whittington Hospital, North London, as part of This Morning’s Baby Club for ITV1.
“I think if I ever had to have a career change, I’d want to become a midwife. I can’t think of anything that would give such satisfaction,” Myleene told the Daily Mail at the time.
