Puerto Rican newspaper reports singer's chosen name for baby boy
Mama-to-be Shakira appears to be bucking the recent celebrity trend for 'keeping mum' by sharing the details of her pregnancy with the world.
Just one month after announcing her pregnancy on her official website, then two weeks later confessing that she is expecting a boy live on television, her choice of baby name has also been reported in the press.
According to Puerto Rican newspaper, El Nuevo Día, the little boy is to be called Biel, a name of Catalán origin derived from Gabriel.
The report, which is yet to be confirmed by the snake-hipped diva, also claimed the angelic name was chosen by her footballer boyfriend, Gerard Piqué.
The Columbian singer recently appeared on stage for the first time with her bump at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup closing ceremony in Azerbaijan.
Sharing her excitement before the event, Shakira tweeted, "In a few minutes it will be our baby’s first time on a stage and it’s going to be at a football event! Magical. Shak."
