Denmark’s Royal Family are celebrating a new addition this week after the country’s Princess Marie gave birth to a son on Monday.
The newborn arrived a year after she gave up her French citizenship to marry the Scandinavian country's Prince Joachim.
As yet, the baby has not been named but he is said to have weighed a healthy 6.7 pounds and measured 20 inches at birth.
Following the tradition of his brothers and cousins, the baby's names will be revealed at his christening.
Speaking to reporters outside the Copenhagen-based hospital where he was born, proud dad Joachim said his 33-year-old wife and child, who is seventh in line to the Danish throne, were both well.
Describing the birth, he added: "It is a very moving moment.”
Joachim, who is fourth in line to the throne, is already dad to Felix, 7, and Nikolai, 9 from a previous marriage with Alexandra Manley but the couple split 2005.
