Singer reveals how she took a home study course on adoption to prepare for motherhood
If It Makes You Happy singer Sheryl Crow has admitted that relationship problems and battling breast cancer spurred her on to adopt her two sons.
Talking to US magazine Redbook, the 48-year-old revealed that she was inspired to become a mum after going through a tough split and dealing with cancer. “I’d just been through a pretty painful break-up and breast cancer treatment. After that I felt an acute sense of urgency about how I wanted my life to feel,” she told the magazine.
Sheryl then went on to take a course in adoption so that she “would be ready” if the opportunity came along. “I started doing an adoption ‘home study’, which means you fill out the paperwork, get certified in infant CPR.”
The singer’s efforts paid off as she adopted her first son Wyatt in 2007 and most recently a baby boy named Levi James in April this year.
