Sir Elton John abandons adoption – but vows to support baby

Hopes for Sir Elton John and his partner, David Furnish to adopt a Ukranian orphan boy have been crushed after Ukraine authorities deemed them unsuitable parents.

After visiting the Makeyevka orphanage on behalf of his Aids charity, Elton and his partner fell in love with little 18-month old Lev and filed for adoption. However, due to 62-year-old Elton’s age (he is nearly 20 years over the suitable age limit) and the fact that he is in a same-sex relationship, their bid was rejected.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, David Furnish admitted the couple were “massively gutted” but vowed to campaign to change the laws which turned them down. “It’s not possible, the laws don’t support the adoption. We are finding ways of supporting Lev and his brother from here, making sure they have the best health care, education and family options.”

The showbiz pair are determined to make a difference and not abandon the boy just because they can’t bring him to the UK. “We’ll do as much as we can from here and support them as much as we can. We’re going to continue to campaign about those laws too,” he promised.

Let's hope Elton and David stick to their promises as it'll be a shame if they are only speaking out to promote Elt's Aids charity. They seem like decent guys, so let's hope they do the right thing About 3 years ago

MAYBE THEY COULD GET SOMEONE REALLY NICE FROM THERE TO ADOPT THE BOY AND HIS BROTHER AND THEN THEY COULD GO OVER AND SPEND TIME WITH THEM WHENEVER THEY WANTED TO UNTIL THE LAW HOPEFULLY. LORD WILLING. CHANGES.

ADOPTION IS A REALLY GREAT THING, EVEN IF YOU CAN HAVE CHILDREN BIOLOGICALLY. WE CAN HAVE KIDS, BIOLOGICALLY, WE HAVE 2.  AND WE ARE PRAYING TO ADOPT A LITTLE BOY FROM HERE IN MEXICO FROM AN ORPHANAGE WE LIVED AND WORKED AT. THE RULES ARE DIFFERENT THOUGH HERE FOR FOREIGNERS, EVEN THOUGH WE WANT TO STAY IN THE CHILDS COUNTRY AND ARE LIVING HERE. BIASED UNFORTUNATELY AND SUPER EXPENSIVE FOR SOLICITORS FEES. I THINK ITS A REALLY NICE THING THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO DO. SOME PLACES MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO ADOPT SUCH CHILDREN , YET DAY AFTER DAY YOU WATCH THEM GO WITHOUT THE LOVE AND SECURITY AND FAMILY THAT THEY NEED. THERE ARE SOO MANY CHILDRFEN ALREADY IN THIS WORLD . BE GREAT IF  MORE PEOPLE THOUGHT OF ADOPTING THOSE ALREADY HERE , RATHER THAN JUST ADOPTING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT HAVE ANY BIOLOGICALLY.

LOVE IS LOVE , NO MATTER WHO IT COMES FROM .

JAMES 1- 27    RELIGION THAT GOD OUR FATHER ACCEPTS AS PURE AND FAULTLESS IS THIS~ TO LOOK AFTER ORPHANS AND WIDOWS IN THEIR DISTRESS AND TO KEEP ONESELF FROM BEING POLLUTED BY THE WORLD.
