Have you told your toddler things that you know aren't true? They can be anything from 'The tooth fairy will come if you're a good girl,' to 'watching too much tv will make your eyes square,' - we've all done it but I'd love to hear what you've said and why.

Send me a message with your full name, age, roughly where you're from, your child's age and first name and I'll definitely get back to you! Thanks!

Hi,

While we were on holiday to Singapore this June, my 4 year old son got bitten by mosquitos and I told him it's because he's eaten too many sweets and chocolates and his blood is so sweet that the mosquitos like the sugar and can smell it on him.   It worked!

Thanks

My husband is a traffic warden. The kids think he works at the ministry of magic and slays dragons for a living. We've sort of dug ourselves deeper and deeper into a hole with this one. It's become quite an elaborate tale.Better than a brick through our window when the kids tell their friends what he really does

Not my kids, but someone at work - when his son was small, he asked what the motion sensor in the corner of the hall was.  So his dad being thoroughly evil (!) told him it was Santa cam, and it was how Santa knew if he was naughty during the year.

Several months later, he heard his son talking away on the stairs and knew there was no-one there so he sneaked out to see if he could hear - his son was earnestly explaining to the motion sensor just why he hadn't been naughty when he stole the biscuits from the kitchen in the hopes that Santa would take pity on him!

My husband does phone calls from Santa. We tell so many white lies the kids will never trust us again when they find out the truth. My number 3 thought, till very recently that we found her sitting on a toadstool in the forest and the fairies had left her there for us.We had to take her to hospital to have her wings removed and that's why there's a baby picture in hospital.I think white lies make the world just a little bit more magic when you're little.
When I was a children's nanny in London, about 12/13 years ago I told the little girl I looked after that ice-cream vans had "strangers" in so she always came running when she saw them. Her Mum didn't let her have sweet stuff and it avoided the paddy.I feel so bad now.

My little girl is too young to be told stories but my nieces mum tell her that the bell on the ice cream van is telling people that they have run out.

I tell the kids in my class that the motion sensor is a camera linked to the heads office so that he can see what they are doing!!!!!

the traffic warden working for the ministry of magic really made me giggle, and so did the child explaining to the motion sensor about the biscuits!! i agree with oldwoman that these little white lies do make the world more magical, i think life is hard enough when we grow up that as much magic as possible when you're little can't be a bad thing!

thats so true, children are thrown into 'reality' far to young now, i went to a kids party a few weeks back a 5yr olds and some of the kids were in heels and makeup!! i didnt hav makeup until i was atleast 15! They need more magic and innocence let them be children for as long as possible xxx

Like caroline our cousin tells her kids the noise on the icecream van is that its run out to,i think its funny.

When i was a kid i remember my mum telling the fly's were in the house to watch us and would eat us if naughty. It made her feel rather gulity and she came back to explain that it would not happen.

Yes,we're having to think up explanations for that one now.We haven't told the kids about the baby yet. With the others they've asked how it will get out.I tell them the same way it got in.That's the truth. They're getting a bit older this time.Asking more questions. This is going to have to be a good story. My eldest saw a goat give birth at a farm this summer. He's not going to be easy to fool.Any ideas really welcome.

haha, Isabelle just thinks when the baby is ready you just go the doctors and quote "he just pops it out" just like that. If it was that easy. We actually watched a documentary the other day. to help her understand. I had already seen it before so I knew it was not grafic and she was made up she said it was "beautiful" how cute

I havent told any lies to Hollie yet as she is too young, but im sure there will be a few told in the future.

My nephew told me once how babies were born when i was pregnant with Hollie. He said that there is a ladder in my tummy that the babyu climbs up and then it pops out of your mouth. He then went on to tell me the baby flies across the room and you have to go and pick it up and clean it and say shhhh baby its ok, dont cry. I was in absolute stitches when he told me that, he also thinks the baby comes out covered in green slime and that is why you have to clean it.

That'd be right,Linz. You think I'd know better by now.Just keeps happening.
Arthur told me,just before Matilda was born that my tummy would "burst open and I will see your red stuff".(blood)Thanks for the reassurance, don't they say the sweetest things.Harry told me he wouldn't stay awake for the baby to be born.He said he'd just listen for the screams and he'd know she was coming.
