Hi everyone, We’ve just been talking about how we named our children in the MadeForMums office; one baby had her name well before she was born, another staffer had a list of names, which were all binned upon arrival. This had us wondering, did you choose your baby’s name before they were born? And if you did, when you finally met your baby, did you go with the name you had chosen, or opt for something else? Please do come and tell us if you named your baby before they were born, and kept or binned that name by posting a reply to this thread.

We picked our daughters name straight after 20w scan when she was revealed to be a girl. Millie. At the time George wtf asda had a range called max and millie so we managed to get "personalised" clothes and blankets etc without paying over the odds which was a bonus. I'm a nurse and met a 99yo lady called millie just before my scan and instantly loved the name.
This time though we are having another girl and no name is sticking. We can't agree on any and we have got to the point we have more or less stopped talking about it cos it ends in us disagreeing and getting nowhere lol. Hoping when she is born a name just suits. Defo think second time is harder! 4 weeks to go though so maybe a miracle will see us agree before hand haha!

We didn't find out with my previous 2 pregnancies. With my son we had a few ideas for girls but none for boys. He was unnamed for about 5 days!
With my daughter again, we had a few ideas for girls bit nome for boys. As soon as she came out (literally I was still in the birthing pool) I said she's a Sophie. It wasn't a name we'd discussed, it was just right.
This time we plan to find out the gender, so aiming for a list of names.

We had a list of names, but when my daughter was born, we tried them all out on her and none of them felt right. Then i plucked a name my husband had previously said no to, and it was just right!
With my second, we used a name off the first list - hubby chose it for her and it was perfect!

Meredith was always Meredith due to greys anatomy.
I find the actress who portrays her inspiring 💕
The deal was if the baby was a boy he would have both grandads names and ur dads name Theodore James Michael..
& Meredith got her name and then June which is my mums mum and we can shorten to MJ

All 3 of my girls names were picked before birth. Myself and my hubby have popular names so we wanted something different and unique
our 1st is called makenzi ( maiden name at the time was mckenzie and a nick name I had and wanted my dads name to live on) our 2be is called kaila ;although we say it as cayla 😂
Our 7 month old is called Jordanna 🙈 Xx

With our first son we had a shortlist of four names and when he was born we knew he was a William.
With our second boy, it was soooo much more difficult (we had tonnes of girls names we liked though lol!).
We trawled through the baby name book and ended up with a long 'short' list of about 12, nine of which we loved. I then found the name Corin on the internet amongst some other Gaelic names. Surprisingly my hubby didn't hate it😂 so it went on the list.
After he was born we still couldn't agree (although I secretly wanted Corin!). Took us a few days to whittle the list down gradually and then pick Corin (but I knew he was a Corin; just didn't want to push hubby too hard, he needed persuading lol!)
*none of which we loved, not nine!!😂
