Does anyone know whether my seven week old baby (born 4 weeks early) would be considered as a 3 week old or a seven week old. She is doing some things really well like supporting her own head and following things with her eyes but doesn't appear to reach out for toys yet but she looks at them. She turns her head to noises and voices.

She isn't smiling yet (just wind I think) I can't wait to see her smile.

My lo was born 5 1/2 weeks early and apparently you go by their corrected age in relation to their development but they tend to catch up when they are 2. I have read this on here somewhere. Its probably on the Premature babies section.

hi. yeah nashy is right anything up to 37 weeks gestation is classed as premature so your baby should be plotted as early on her developemental charts although this may not always apply to how they develope in the things they do as sime babies may be doing things thats right for their age even if they were born prem.xxx

you should consider your baby a 3 week old

i have been told by a friend that all her baby's development goes by her scan due date not her actual arrival date (also 4 weeks early) so her 8 week injections will be when she's actually 12 weeks old and that goes for everything else as well as she's been told that all development will be 4 weeks behind the average age! up untill 2 but will actually be classed as a premie right up untill her 5th birthday

this also applies to the surgested minimum age of...
    - clothes
    - medicine
    - dummies
    - teats
    - weaning, juice & food
    - progress milk

do you have a yellow book given to you by your hv?

if so is her weight being plotted on the graph at the back?
