My little boy seems to have outgrown his rear facing car seat (maxi-cosi cabriofix).
He is only 7 months but can sit upright unaided. He is tall and about 25lb.
I've been looking online for the next stage car seat. A forward facing group 1 seat.
Can anyone share any advice or recommend a good safe and comfortable seat?
There seem to be a wide variety of seats by each manufacturer - is there anything in particular that i should be looking for?

I'm not an expert but I did read in a leaflet at my local ante natal group that you should try and keep your baby in its rear facing car seat for as long as possible as it is the safest option. Even if they can sit up right and their feet pop out of the bottom you should still keep them in it until they reach the max weight for a group 1 seat which is 90kg i think.
The leaflet said that rear facing seats protect their heads and we shouldnt rush to upgrade them into the next stage.
Hope this helps

I was told the same and lugged jack about in an infant carrier until he was 13kgs the max weight for mothercare and maxicosi ones (which he reached at 14mnths) even though i had to fold his legs up. mothercare just kept telling me his heads below the top of the seat hes fine!!
The best advice i can offer is take your car to mothercare and halfords for advice on what carseat best fits but use ur judgement on ur sons comfort, as they should offer you atleast a couple of options.
In my experience all the children in my family once out of infant carriers have had britax, they are very safe especially our evolva 123 which has a safe strap! and they are hard wearing one in the family is 8yrs old and just slightly faded and all the children have had different makes of britax to suit them and i wouldnt fault any of them.
hope this helps x
