    Hi there
Is anyone having the same problem. Its as if my little one woke up a few days ago and decided not to eat ! She has been brill up until now. She just won't open her mouth for me to feed her. I am making some lovely stuff but she will eat rusks and finger biscuits but not her usual pureed food. I did give her some pieces of sweet potato and carrot tonight and some jelly which she ate a little of. It seems as if she wants to feed herself but just won't hold the spoon. I am reducing her milk and hope that will help. She is a picture of health so not too worried at the moment but its just frustrating as she has been such a good eater. Advice very welcome
    Hugs

I too am having a similar problem and Kade is also 13 months!!

Like your lo, Kade was a fantastic eater and ate everything I made him, even all his greens....in fact especially all his greens. But the last week or so he has been getting a little bit fussy but I reckon it's because I started to make his food a bit differently. I used to cook the food up then puree. I would then serve him veg/potatoes/rice that he eats himself (with hands, not spoon) whilst I fed him the messy puree. Anyway I thought I'd better start making the effort to get him off pureed food so started to make things like healthy burgers, fish cakes, chicken etc and cut it up for him to feed him self but it seems he is now just going off everything! Half the time he just plays with it before tossing it onto the floor.
Tonight for eg, I made him some salmon & potato fishcakes with some mixed veg but as soon as he tasted the fishcake he just spat it out despite the fact he loves salmon then proceded to pile his veg up in his bib!!

Anyway sorry have no good advice hun and such a long reply, just wanted to let you know your not alone lol.
Perhaps you could maybe try letting her feed herself with her hands with less messy foods to start then learning to use a spoon will come when she feels ready?
    Good luck xxx

    Hi hun,

I had this problem about 3 months ago with macey shes 14 months now. All it was with her is that she wanted to feed herself. She now feeds herself most of the time. Over the past few months i have had to give her a spoon and also i have a spoon and show her how it works and how she needs to learn. I put her hand on the spoon and scoop up the food and put it in her mouth with her doing it aswell and she is happy with this. Now she has the coordination to do it herself.

Hope this helps they get to independant before they can actually do things lol!

Thanks so much for your replies, good to know I am not alone. I have let her feed with her hands but she too throws everything on the floor and thinks its a game. Will try getting her used to the spoon but think, like you say, its perserverence. I think I will have to start freezing the food I make, seems such a shame to throw it away. I am also trying not to puree so much.
Anyway will be thinking of you tomorrow at feeding time, knowing I am not alone.

If you get any luck, please let me know
    Thanks and hugs
