    Oh dear oh dear
I am a TERRIBLE Mummy! I cut Barnabys finger nails last night whilst he was sleeping because I can't endure another razor blade nail being dragged down my nipple whilst breastfeeding! Only he managed a little wriggle whilst I was doing it and I completely missed his nail and cut his finger!!
Oh my, did he cry, and I felt terrible and then it started bleeding and I felt like the worlds worst mummy. (Not helped by OH who was so angry at me hurting HIS son,,,, I mean, like he could actually make me feel any worse than I did anyway!!!)
I have been trying to make him smile (Barney not OH, I haven't got the energy for both) to see if he's forgiven me but that quite daft as coz he was asleep he doesn't even know it was me!!!
    xx

Oh thank goodness for that! Thanks ladies, I feel mildly less guilty now. And even OH has just conceded that I *probably* only done it by accident....
Just taking a break from cleaning the kitchen where I have managed to slice my finger open.... well what goes round comes round I guess!!

Me too.....well it was OH actually. Lo was feeding at the breast so he decided then was a good time to try, All was going well till his last thumbnail when he just clipped the skin. He cried so much and am sure he thought it was me. You can't help but feel so guilty can you?
I have the nail clippers but after reading this post will get some baby scissors for next time, sound a bit safer.

Oh u poor thing, have just been reading about that in my Jo Frost book, she says its very common ! Haven't attempted to use a scissors on Ellie yet. Her nails tend to be soft after a bath and then have a little go at cutting them with my hand and it seems to work at the moment.

I had a friend who pinched her little one when closing the popper things on her babygrow and her little one seemed to scream for days and had a huge bruise ! Am really aware of that now she did it. It could happen to anyone.

We r good mothers but only human ! Unlike our other halves who as we all know are PERFECT !!!!!!
Take care and Happy New Year to you all

hiya i couldn't face cutting my lo fingers nails and they were desperately needing done, so i asked my hv and she did and she made him bleed, she felt so bad - it made me laugh! your not really hurting them its just that there nails are still kinda attached to there skin (does that make sense) - i use a baby scissors too, the clippers are quite hard to use!

hi i did this a couple of months ago and couldn't stop the bleeding my oh kept hold of his hand and started to pretend he was looking for something and said i had cut the top of his finger off. i was in a terrible state crying and then he started laughing, he was winding me up needless to say i still don't see the funny side.
