    Hi ladies

I have recently put my lo on formula milk and just want to make sure I am making up the feeds correctly. In a morning I boil the kettle, leave it to cool for 30mins, then measure out the required amount of water into 6 bottles. I then measure out the required number of scoops into tommee tippee dispenser pots so I can take these out with me. When my lo needs feeding I just empty the milk powder into the water, shake and feed her. My concern is that quite often the water has cooled right down - will this give her tummy ache. Someone said I should put the bottles of water straight into the fridge, the warm the water up when I need it. Is this right? If so what do you do when you're going out. I would love to now what everyone else did throughout the day. My lo is 3wks on monday and is not in a routine yet.

We make the bottles up in advance and are lucky that Dylan will take them at room temperature.
I have done it using the dispensers & didn't heat the water up. I guess it depends on how LO likes the milk. Although it means carrying more things when you go out, you could fill a flask up with the water to maintain the temperature?!

When I go out anywhere I tend to buy the small cartons of ready-made sterilised milk and just pour these into a sterilised bottle. You can feed at room temp or heat up in a jug of hot water (like if you are at someones house or in a pub....). I never heat a bottle in a microwave.

Otherwise a flask of boiled water and your milk dispensers is a good idea.

I do what you do hun. Lo is 12 weeks and has always been fine never had colic etc!! He prefers a room temp bottle to a warm one.

    hello

what your doing sounds just right, personally!

i do it EXACTLY the same now (apt only 2 bottles for me & i do it before i go to bed at night) and never yet had tummy ache from coolish water and my baby is now just turned 9 months

i've tried everyway of feeding - bf'ing, bottles of ebm, making up formula in advance (till 1 curdled!!?! when out despite being in a chiller bag), making 1 at a time and this way (which is my fave by a long shot! & what i'll do for the nxt one! hehe)

never seen the point of putting the bottles in the fridge - if there just water then they dont need to be chilled

they sit at room temp and he gets fed it room temp or ocallsionally (very usually if feeling a bit grumpy) i'll pop in into jug of warm water or 30secs in mirco & just make sure i give it a bloody good shake after heating it either way.

its so easy and convenient to esp went left with someone else (mil kept leaving bottles of ebm in hot water too long months & months ago - now i have no need to worry bout that)

never had to take extra hot water when out - i HATE taking anymore than i can get away with and i HATE extra Faffiness, The simpler the better and more time enjoying baby

sorry for the ramble but hope i've helped in some way.

    kim
