Ive started my lo on solids and shes tried quite a few different fruit and veg now. I bought a mango to give her and ive just chopped it up but I dont know if I stew it or just puree it raw? So far Ive stewed everything shes eaten. Also any other baby food recipes would be much appreciated! Shes 21 weeks old. Thanks,

    Amy :\)

    Hiya

I haven't offered mango yet but I think if its really ripe then you can give it raw. Check out the foody forum on here, there's loads of recipe suggestions x

    Hi there!

I have given my wee one Mango and you can just puree it straight away if its ripe enough and cut into small chunks. If its not ripe then just steam it for about 5 to 10 mins and its fine! i put my mango with butternut squash and my lo loves it!!!

Hi just looking in my annabel karmel puree book and it does say no need to cook or boil first just stone and cut out the flesh put into cubes and puree. It also says combines well with banana strawberry or yogurt. You could also try melon, peach plum or dried fruit. (boil dried fruit). Hope this helps. I have got the annabel karmel top 100 foor puree's for babies and i think its fab i went to tesco today to get all my fruit and veg to become a chef in the kitchen one day this week quite sad i am looking forward to it really. x

    Hi ya

I too have got an AK book and im finding it great. Here is something u could try as my LO really loved this recipie... Last night i gave my LO apple and pear with cinnamon which i mixed in with her babyrice and 3oz of usual milk- ive never seen her eat so much!

All u have to do is cut 2 apple and two pears into small cubes and put into a saucepan plus 4 tablespoons of water/unsweetened apple juice, add a pinch of ground cinnemon and put on low heat with the lid on and leave for about 10min until its really tender then puree in a blender.
U can freeze this too into small cubes using ice cube trays or AK food trays (which i brought) and then just take out what u want when u need it. I then just made up some baby rice as i would usually do with her usual milk and added the puree, let it cool down a bit and she really enjoyed it. It was quick and easy to do just so long as the pears are ripe and sweet and smelt lovely too.

Anyway- just an idea for u to try perhaps

My hv suggested that if you have a fruit puree thats too runny to had baby rice powder to thicken it, anyone else done this? Idded some baby rice powder to my mango puree as it was a bit too runny. I gave caitlin the mango puree today and she loved it!! Normally she would eat two teaspoons of puree but today she ate 6 heaped teaspoons of the mango!!! Im going to tesco tonight to buy another mango! I had trouble preparing it though! I didnt seem to get much flesh from it?

    Hi Smithya85,

Did u see my last post? Its a great idea adding purees to babyrice (u can even add beg purees if u want to ensure ur LO's dont get used to too many sweet tastes)
anyway- i added a puree i made to some babyrice and my LO loved it so i added the recipe on here for u to look at
