Hiya girls, just come on for a bit of advice as LO has been a bit funny since Thurs night. Basically, he is coming up to 6 months old and has been on 3 meals a day for a good while, been loving his solids and his milk intake has decreased a bit. I was fine with that until Thurs when he had a bad runny nose and then projectile vomited in the middle of the night. At the time I thought it was probs just some pleghm collecting at the back of his throat as his cot was also propped up slightly, Anyway, come Fri he isn't really interested in his milk or brekkie but has a bit but by lunchtime I try to give him some lunch and he totally projectile vomits all over the place. From then onwards he has only been taking about 2oz milk at every feed - I've beeen sticking to his usual feed times (5 feeds a day) but he isn't gettin hungry. I've totally bypassed the solids so he takes more milk but to no aval, he just isn't interedsted. On top of this he had a touch of diaorreah on Sat and Sundy (it was like a gush of water comin out of his bum yesterday). Despite all of this he doesn't have a temp and is still smiling, laughing and playing. He is a bit more ratty than usual but nothing major. I think his gums are hurting him too as his cheeks have been rosty at times and he is constantly chewing the bottle teats rather than drinking and has been chewing anything he can get his hands on! Does this sound like just teething to you or do you think he could be ill too? I am going out of my mind with worry as I'm sure he isn't getin enough liquids! I'm takin him to the docs later but I'm scared the doc will think I'm stupid for worrying :\?

It's a sickness and diaorreah bug - my lot are just recovering! Both me and hubby had it at the same time, plus my 7yr old, 3yr old and the baby, 8 months. Both boys (the younger 2) are still relatively off their food (we were ill wkend of 3rd-5th). It is worrying but as long as he's getting some liquids he shud b ok. We went back to basics and our youngest has been having sml meals of things like rusk mashed with some milk - it's got a bit of flavour, it's got the milk and a little bit of nourishment too.

not sure about the projectile vomitting bit but the other symptoms sound like teething. My lo gets really irritable a certain times of the day & his nose then starts running, he has a lot of saliva coming out of his mouth, he chews his hands or anything he can get hold of & has been having more runny poos more often than usual (normally only has one nice solid poo a day but now can be 3-4 soft or runny ones, sorry tmi I know) He has already cut one tooth but seems to have at least one more coming through & this one is being a bugger as he is starting to wake up a couple of times a night with tooth pain too For feeding, we have to wait until calpol & bonjela has kicked in before he will eat his dinner at night & it has become so much of a struggle I am thinking of switching his main meal to lunch now as he isn't so bothered then but by 5.30pm he is really suffering!!! His milk feed has reduced too as like you say, he is too busy chewing the nipple of his bottle to drink.

I would say try some calpol before trying to feed & then if they are still of their milk in another day or two & the calpol isn't working then call the HV or GP.

thanx everyone for your replies, i wasn't sure whether to put it down to teething or not as you get told not to put everything down to teething. Whatever it is it is driving both me and porr Jamie insane! I'll let u know how we get ontoday and if I have any success in feeding!
