Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me as I can't find any information anywhere about this but basically - I am a UK citizen, my partner and family all live in the UK but in April 2013 I came to work abroad on a 2 year contract, my contract is due to end on April 1st 2015. I have just found out I am pregnant. My baby will be due in May 2015. I am planning to finish my contract at my job and carry on working here abroad until end of March 2015 and then return to the UK. I am sure my current job would pay me maternity pay, but it would mean having to return to my position abroad after having my baby, which I won't be able to do and I want to definitely have the baby in the UK so I would have to resign from my job. My question is about Maternity Allowance. Will i get maternity allowance when I move back even though I have been a non-resident for 2014-2015 tax year? And if so, does anybody know how much it would be please? I have ready that its 138 pounds or 90% of salary, whatever is less - but I won't have had a UK salary for them to use to calculate this so I am not sure how it would work. Please help! Thank you!!
