I had a Mirena Coil fitted 6 weeks after Kian was born(He's now 7 months). GP told me that my periods might or might not stop. Anyway I had 1 day periods every month but for the last 2-3months I havn't bled at all. Also, I've had constant diarrhoea (sorry tmi!) for about 2 weeks non-stop and last night I woke up about 2am and felt really sick. Do you think that there is a chance I could be pregnant? I think the Mirena coil is something like 99.7% effective, so it's really unlikely. Also when I had it put in GP said that women who do get pregnant with this coil are advised to have an abortion as it can be dangerous to mum and baby to carry on the pregnancy. I don't know what to do because I don't agree with having abortions and also I am due to go back to uni full time in Sept ,and we are stuggling financially as it is and having another baby would be so difficult for us. I'm really scared to do a test. What do you ladies think? xx

Go and do a test then you will know for sure.

It might just be that your body has took so long to settlle down and you might just have stopped getting periods. Just do a test to put your mind at rest! xxx

i'm sorry youre getting so worried about it, but i really think you should just do a test and that way you can start dealing with whatever the reality is,( i don't know much about coils at all but i'd imagine the earlier you find out the less likely you'd need an abortion? ) either way if you do the test you can then start dealing with the what nows rather than what ifs, good luck

id imagine that the symptoms are just side affects but the only way to know is to take a test to put your mind at ease x

i had the same coil fitted when i was 20 due to problems with periods as i was really heavy and i had the same problem as you, i had a period every 28 days for the first three months and then nothing for about 6 months and they then decided to appear again although would only last 2 days and were so light.

I had blackouts and felt really sickly when it was first fitted but doctor just assured me it was due to my body changing and adapting to the constant hormones.

Try not to worry as it is so effective however if you are nervous and symptoms persist then i'd do a test.
