    Hi Mummies
My DD is 6 months old & fully weaned. For the past week I'm having major problems getting her to take her milk.
She clamps her mouth shut & gets really frustrated with it - she just does not want it!
This is what she has (but it's a battle!):

    7am - 4/5 oz's
    11.45 - 2 oz's
    3.45 - 2/3 oz's
Bedtime (6.30pm) - 4oz's (except for tonight which was 2 and she was getting sooo distressed i didn't bother with anymore)

I also make up her porridge with milk too.
Should I be worried? Is she getting enough? She has plenty of food inbetween, but I'm just worried she's not getting what she should be having
Shall I drop the lunchtime bottle to see if she'll have more at the others??

    Thanks for any advice xxx

Hi hun, it's reccommended that between 6months and 1year they get 20oz approx per day. It looks like your LO falls a little short with what she drinks in bottles, HOWEVER, please don't worry, as you if she isn't keen on drinking anymore, you can account for this in her food. You mentioned yourself that she has her porridge made up with milk which is great, and any other dairy products she will eat for example yoghurts/cheese will boost her intake of the essentials.

Not every baby follows the guidlines just as adults are all different too. Obviously i don't know what kind of food your LO eats/likes but i found that cheese sauce made with milk poured on foods such as veg/fish were a good way of upping the dairy in take.

You could try dropping the lunchtime bottle, i guess that will be trial and error, and if you find it makes no difference just add it in again.

I would up the milk a bit but maybe try a different container, like a nice beaker she can hold? She will probably drink it all and still have the bottle at night time

    Thanks ladies
linziMC - she does have a yoghurt every day too but I've not yet introduced cheese. I'm sure she'll love it, she seems to really enjoy her food it's just milk that's the problem.
    I don't know if it's teething??

Yeah I'd contemplated giving her 1 of the "bottles" in a beaker, which I believe is recommended anyway due to teeth & the problem bottle teats can cause.

    Hiya,

my LO is 7 1/2 and I was really stressing myself out a few weeks back that she wasnt drinking as much as the recommended amount siad she should.
She was also having 4 x bottles a day but hardly taking any.
I dropped the mid-morning bottle and instead give her 3 x 6oz bottles, one when she gets up, one around 3pm then one at bed and 9 times out of 10 now she drinks it all.
Its still not the 'recommended' amount but im not worried as like you I give yoghurts, she has full fat milk in her weetabix & she loves cheese so this counts towards it.

Like the others have said, every baby is different and its natural for them to go off their milk once food is introduced anyway.

    Good luck! x

Thanks Sarahboo - it's worrying isn't it? As if we dint have enough to worry about!!!
Think I'll drop a bottle tomorrow and see how that pans out, I can always introduce it again if need be, just to get an extra couple of oz's down her!
