Ok a really stupid question but when do babys burp on their own without needing their backs rubbed or patted? Ellie has been doing this from 4 -5 months and my sil today said she shouldnt be doing this yet and i should stil be winding her. What is the norm? x

I found that as soon as Barnaby was wriggling around more he was very good at getting his own wind up. I still give him a helping hand when he's eaten or drunk a lot and hasn't burped but he often doesn't need it - he's 6 months tomorrow. I find that with all the rolling and bouncing and general attempts at shuffling round the cot ususally does the trick.
If your LO is happy then don't worry - I am sure she'll let you know if she's got wind!!!

Gracie's started burping herself but a while after a feed and she's 19wk. I still wind her but am not too bothered at making sure she burps as I know she will later, that's if she hasn't burped on sitting her up!

Was also worried about that, especially since lo turned 6 mnths last week and had started solids, so I wanted to know if I should burp him after solids. Turns out that he just burps on his own most of the time, though I still gently rub his back or just put him on my shoulder after he has had milk.

Hi DIane, Oakley has been doing this for a wee while now. Generally once he sits up r moves about it just all comes out!!! The only time I need to burp him is if he falls aslepp taking his bed time bottle, I usually put him over my shoulder whilst carrying him up the stairs and he burps then!

Ellie got her high chair at 5 months but i find the straps are still way too big even when tightened in. I just wedge 2 small blankets down either side to keep her sitting straight and keep the table in front of her when im not feeding her. The bad thing about it is when you are feeding her you need the table off as its so high you cant get the spoon in her mouth! Daft whoever though of that but i just think to myself that Ellie can sit in it for another couple of years if needs be as it seems to be aimed at bigger kids. She is 6 months now and the straps are still hanging! x
