Hi girls, my LO is 11+ weeks old and my mum said said to me yesterday she reakons he could be teething and today we noticed his lower gums were quite hard and his cheeks are quite red. He has flatly refused the bottle at his 6.30pm feed before bed for the last 2 days and has really been crying at that time, as though in real pain, and the only way Ive been able to comfort him is by putting him on my breast (I alternate between breast and bottle). In the day he takes the bottle without any fuss.
Anyway Im just wondering whether he is teething? I didnt think they started this young and dont really know much about it...could you please let me know the symptons and at what age your lo started to teeth, that would be a great help.
(Oh yeah, he has also started to wake every 3-4 hours at night as well, not sure if this could be part of it?)

    Hi,
My baby started went through the same thing at 11 weeks. She is now 6 and a half months and still no teeth but apparantly the discomfort can start as early as 11 weeks for them. x

Both my 1st 2 showed signed of teething from bout 2 months and they got their 1st teeth at 4 months. My 3rd didn't get any teeth til he was 9 months then popped 6 by the time he was 1 yr!! My 4th is 11 months and has 4 teeth. Don't forget, you can use calpol to ease the pain and discomfort, especially at night when you want him to sleep!!

My 2 girls both started teething at around 2 months and one got her first tooth at 5 months and the other about 6 months. My wee boy had no signs of teething and his first tooth burst the gum at 9.5 weeks!! It hasnt grown anymore but sonce then he has been having terrible pain and his cheeks are always red, he is constantly dribbling and shoving his hands in his mouth. Tried bonjela which only helps for about 10 mins so tried ashton and parson powders and they made him sick!!! He is 13+ weeks.

Yep Rhys was about 6wks starting teething all the symptoms as you said, but teeth came through at 16wks, hes 26 wks now and the next lot are on their way through. I give him Calpol at night when he is obviously in pain and boots teething gel (I think it's for 3months+) or calgel. he munches on everything clothes, toys, cat lol!!

Hi thanks for all your replies, I think he is starting to teeth by the sounds of it. I didnt realise it could start so young, but when speaking to my HV today she said some babies are already born with teeth?!?! I gave him a small dose of calpol this morning and another just before bed, both times it has zonked him right out! He slept for 1.5 hours this morning, woo hoo!!!!
