dd was born at 32 weeks 13 months ago. when she came home she was on sytron, folic acid and vitamins. i asked in scbu and they said that she would be on them for 6 months to a year until she is fully weaned. we havent seen the consultant at then chidren's clinic since she was 12 weeks old so we havent been told to stop them. she is on 3 big meals plus a snack and only has milk before bed, she eats anything and everything i put in front of her.just wondering how long your lo's were on vits and iron etc? got an app with the GP next week as we have no repeats left for her precription, but not sure if he will be able to make a decision to take her off them or not

can't believe she hasn't seen the consultant since 12 wks old Karen!SKye has seen hers twice since she was discharged and we have 4-6 monthly checks for development etc until she is 2 years old, or walking/talking. At her last appt in August they just reiterated to leave her on them for a year. I never bothered with the prescriptions, just bought them from Boots for the vits as they were only a few pounds and lasted ages. Her bottle of sytron was so huge it lasted the year!!!I stopped her vits when the latest bottle ran out, the day before her 1st birthday, and her iron maybe 2 months before that. I was happy with her food intake and Follow On milk covering any shortfall. The main reason I am keeping her on 2 formula feeds a day at the mo is for the this reason, and I will drop to just 1 formula bottle per day after NY, at 13 months corrected. That way I am sure she is getting enough, I'm a worried, paranoid mother!

Im surprised too that she hasnt had any follow up from a consultant since 12 weeks. Kenny was on vitamins until he was about 7 months actual age, the GP stopped them because he was eating 3 meals and snacks.Great news she is doing so well and loves her nosh. I think your GP will probably stop them.xx

thanks girls. the hv said that they sometimes access the medical records to check the progress, eg, the 7.5 months review with hv, the 9 month medical with the gp and work from there. she has passed all her checks anad medical based on her actual age rather than correct. she does love her food, was never a big milk fan but will eat anything and everything. she out eats what her 21 month twins cousins eat between them
