i dont agree with child and parent parking spaces, as they have no age limit. i went to a supermarket last week and rules were one child up to age of 12. WHY DO YOU NEED A SPECIAL SPACE IF YOUR CHILD IS 12 As somebody who has a lot of health problems from my operation for cancer, who works and doesnt qualify for special parking, i will coontinue to park in these spaces until they make the rules mor rigid ie only for people with children under say 5 were the parent has to be able to open the door wide enough to lift the child in and out. THATS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE PURPOSE OF THEM. not so mothers with older children can park closer to the shop. when my children were small 2 under the age of two i didnt drive and used to get the bus everywhere two babies a double buggy one strapped to my chest on a capoose so i had on hand for toddler and one hand for buggy and i managed.
IF SOME MOTHERS DIDNT ABUSE THESE SPACES THEN PEOPLE MAY HAVE MORE RESPECT NOT TO HONOUR THEM.
EXAMPLE If i go shopping with my daughter in a supermarket with no age limit on these spaces and i am having a bed day health wise, i say to my daughter IM YIU MOTHER AND YOUR MY CHILD AND I PARK THERE AND SHE IS 25.
LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS COUNTRY IF THEY MADE THE RULES EFFECTIVE AND NOT OPEN TO ABUSE PEOPLE WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO ABIDE BY THEM

I have a 5 year old, who is on the autistic spectrum, I used the spaces until she was abt 4, but I really could do with using them now, as she is more unpredictable in a car park than a 2 year old. But I feel guilty about taking up a sapce for a younger child so I don't.

Parent & Child spaces are designed for parents using pushchairs but ironically each superstore has their own guideline on who can use them - Tesco will advise not to use them if your child is of school age (5+) whilst Asda will allow a 12yr old in a car seat using the same space?....
