Breast & bottle feeding

hi! my little angel is 6 weeks old and gaining weight beautifully through breastfeeding, but i am having problems with night time feeds. She will quite happily go 4-5 hours between feeds in the day time as she gets a really full tummy when she does feed, but at night time she is so sleepy that she falls asleep at the breast after only 5 minutes and cannot be persuaded to take more, then she starts grizzling after 2 1/2 hours for more and I give in after 3. This is very frustrating to say the least as i know she can go longer with a full tummy! i am wondering if anyone has experimented with combining breast and formula so that baby gets a more substantial feed at night and therefore sleeps for longer??

A lady at my baby/toddler group tried formula at night and she said that the 1st night her son slept for longer but after that it made no difference. Thats just her experience though. I'd
I contemplated it myself but didntt want my daughter to prefer the bottle to me (as this happened with my 1st and I gave up breast feeding). As it happens, she wont even contemplate a bottle of breast milk so I cant even try!!!
