Hi,
What did you all do for your childs first birthday!
I was going to do a big part with friends and family, but have decided against that as i went to my friends sons birthday and there was too may people there and he was not interested.
I thought i would do a small party instead for family only, on the Sunday before and maybe take her out for the day on her birthday. Do you think that is ok!

Yes. We went to bristol Zoo for the day ( first ever zoo visit for Zoe and she loved it ) and then just did a family tea party with cake and candles ect when we got back. I think they're a bit young for 'freinds' at that age.

Hi Simone, we did just that, small family get together, and took Niamh out for the day. However, we did it the other way round, we had people over on her birthday and took her out at the weekend, but thats because the weekend after her birthday was Easter, so nobody was around to come for a family get together, so they all came over after work on the day of her birthday.
The idea of a small get together seems to be the most popular one.

Hi Simone,

We did the same for all our children.
We just had family and close friends round and we enjoyed it as did our family and I have to speak for my children , but they enjoyed it too as they were surrounded by the people they were used to and were the centre of attention and could go to sleep whenever they needed to.
It does'nt cost much and everyone helps out.
Would definitely recommend it. Hope that whatever you decide you all enjoy it.

Hi,

For both of mines first birthday we kept it low key. Immediate family one day and then friends from baby group another (for lunch) People don't expect much, just a mixture of sarnies, a few crisps/nibbles and a cake. It didn't cost much and too be honest they don't really know what's going on. it's more for us to know we celebrated it. Whatever you decide keep it stress free for you after all you did all the hard work a year ago giving birth!!

After reading all your mesages i'm scared to say that for Ethans 1st birthday we hired a hall and had a huge party!!!
It was kind of the done thing within my group of friends, we had a small bouncy castle lots of toys and party food for about 20 children it was on his actual birthday which looking back did spoil it as we were running madly around but it was lovely.
On the other hand there's no way Amber's having the same! I'll probably do a small joint party at home for Ethan and Amber (their b days are 13 days apart) for our tots friends then they will each have a family tea on the weekends near their actual birthdays.
