We've been taking our lot on days out this week and next instead of going away on holiday this year.Today's trip was supposed to be somewhere called The Wildwood,an animal place near us.Rain put pay to that,we had torrential rain and hailstorms and ended up with a picnic in the van,a quick look round the camping shop and a hasty retreat to Monkey Bizz our local playcentre.Kids were happy. They got to play,we got to sit and watch.

What could possibly go wrong here?Well I left Whirly in the toddlers section playing with Bridie and Matilda, while I went to change Merlin, who'd just filled his nappy. The children were not unsupervised,Darren was watching them.Must have been gone 5 mins tops.I came back and couldn't see Whirly. Then I saw her in the big kids bit,on the slide.I was about to go get her out when a little girl came running out shouting" there's a baby on the roof".Whirly wasn't in the big kids area, she'd climbed on top of it!She'd climbed up the safety net that covers the slide and separates big kids and little ones.

Panic! How on earth was I supposed to get her down? She was too high too reach.

Fortunately while I dithered and tried to work it out,Whirly's very own superhero, probably on a holiday job,no more than about 18, I would say nearly flew across the playcentre leapt up there and grabbed her.She didn't cry or anything, just clung on to him like it was the most normal thing to do.By then of course there's an audience, very embarassing, but no one can work out what she did to get up there, other than she just climbed the netting.

Been feeling guilty all evening.Could have been so much worse.Whirly just says" I  was dangerous.

Can't take my lot anywhere

OMG what a daredevil climbing the netting, thank god she's ok.  What a fright to give you

How did Darren miss her climbing up?

I think she must have thought it was a climbing net to get to the slide, because Saturday we were at a park with one and she was trying to climb that.

Don't know how Darren didn't see,I expect he was reading his tent brochure he'd picked up.Honestly no idea about supervision.Didn't even occur to him what could've happened if she'd fallen. There's a concrete floor with a not very forgiving carpet,no sort of matting.

That's probably a ban for us anyway.Best not go back for a while.

Funny now,but not at the time
