Yesterday we had a trip to Hull as they have a masive Mothercare with a Clarks concession.

We had her feet measured - 4 1/2 H with broad feet and skinny ankles (just like mummy!). They had 2 pairs in that style, 1 were rock solid rigid and would have caused her problems and the other pair fitted, although I spotted that she had heel slip and pointed it out to the fitter (who was new and didn't really have a clue). The shoes were checked and Bronwyn walked out of the shoes! I used to be a Clarks employee and so know what to look for!!

The fitter had already asked me what styles I liked, surely anyone with an ounce of common sense would just have a look and see what they have got in stock! I knew that with such wide feet we would be lucky to get 2 styles to look at, never mind having a choice!

Anyway, needless to say she still hasn't got any shoes!!

Going to Lincoln today as I couldn;t get any maternity trousers either and i desperately need some for work as i can't keep going in looking like a butch dyke in my dungarees!!!!! Hopefully this clarks might have more styles and if not, there is a start rite shop somewhere!!!!

Hi Caroline! Sorry about the shoes, i was hoping there was going to be a lovely pic of bronwyn in her new shoes. Luka also has wide feet and its a problem he's been wearing cruisers for a while but I struggle getting the size we need.

I would recommend going to an independent shop if there is one at all they usually stock a wider range, I personally like startrite tots as they do buckle up ones which stay on better and seem to give a better fit. good luck with your shopping trip

Thanks girls!

I knew that we would have issues with shoes so I was well prepared, and having done the Clarks kids training (although it was 16 year ago!) I have an idea of what is available!

She is really conifdent on her feet but as we can't get any shoes she can't use her reigns. There is no way that I want her in cheap shoes either!!! I am not very hopeful at finding anything today but got my fingers crossed!!

most good shoe shops will order in for you. hope you have better luck today. I know as luka's feet are v.wide i think i should get him remeasured too. He was a 3g so I manged to find some brand new 3g startrite tots on ebay for £6! but they seem tight im sure he's an h too.

thats a shame caroline, hope todays more sucessful.

i agree wih nicola, we tend to shop in john lewis who stock startrite and clarks, and when fitted, it tends to be the startriete that fit better.

hope to see pics soon

Sorry you weren't able to find shoes for Bronwyn. I have had similar experiences in Clarks and sometimes have to go to different branches to get shoes for the kids.

The shop that we were hoping would be able to help was shut today!!

Bronwyn is still shoeless! Although she did get a lovely Peppa Pig fleece sleepsuit from Mothercare and Gareth treated me to some over the bump black trousers and skirt which means I don't have to look like a butch dyke at school this week!!

We have an issue with shops that we don't have a local stockist, the nearest clarks is 50 mins drive away and the nearest Start rite stockist is an hour away. Ordering shoes in will be an ordeal and will mean repeated trips back and forth, which will be worth it if they can find something that fits but I am not very hopeful at the minute!

oh no what a shame caroline. its supposed to be a nice experience getting those first shoes. I know hush puppies are also wide fitting. Tate had some lovely ones in the spring, they're leather but i washed them in the machine as wanted to keep for luka came up like new!! Well that the business to go into then caroline!

Glad you got some things though, theres nothing nicing than having comfortable clothes towards the end of the pregnancy and also knowing that you look good too xxx

Hi Caroline

Sorry to hear you've had a mare getting Bronwyn some shoes. I took Kai to get his first pair last week keep meaning to put a photo on. I took him to a little shop called Fredilou's in the town where I live they're quite expensive so I got him some summer ones that were on sale!!

My friends little girl has very wide feet and had to order some cos the shop didn't have any in the right size.

Hope you find her some soon and then you can get her on her reigns x x
