Hi there,

I had emergency section with my son 3 1/2 years ago, I had a really good recovery, with the help of a certain morphine injection (while in hospital) lol, while I was at home I just took it easy, slept when baby slept, leaving heavy housework for hubby to do, I done a bit of light dusting and swirling the brush around the toilet.

Although I did find that I didn't bond with baby for the first few months until I was fully mobile which was a bit upsetting, but I never beat myself up about it, it's common and I wasn't the only one.

I would love to achieve a vbac with my next baby, ttc next year hurray!! I don't know whether the reason why I needed a section will present itself in future pregnancies (my pelvis wouldn't open for baby to pass through, or at least I think thats what they told me, I was complete space cadet on drugs, I'm not brave)I just think it will help me to bond with baby if I'm fully mobile straight after birth and I'm able to hold baby without being paralysed waist down.

Did you have a good experience and recovery?

Lots of luffs

thanks for reply, i had a back to back presentation but laboured at home and was fully dialated when i got to hospital. after pushing for 1 and a half hours they took me to theatre and tried forcepsd and vontuse niether of which worked and the vontuse popped off taking some of the skin off babys head.in the end i had a cesarean but this took some time as she was far down. luckily she was ok except for a very sore head and that was v painful for her.now i am unsure about vbac as i dont want anouther baby to go through the same but i hated the recovery after c section.

I also had back to back and she was stuck after 2 and half hours of pushing by which time i was physically and mentally exhausted (having been in labour for 24hr before, and left in hosp overnight on own as they sent partner home, also had not eaten either) and was so relieved when they offered the c section I could have kissed the doctor (if he wasn't actually causing more pain with the examination!). I recovered really well (partner was great), was signed off in no time. Would have a c section in the future, rather than go through a similar labour again, it can't have been good for baby either.
The only downsides were not being able to drive for a few weeks and baby was full of mucus at first as it was not expelled as would be with vaginal birth, so she thought she was full, as all in stomach, so didn't feed properly for a day or two

Ben is 6 months old now and I had a section because he was breech. Recovery was good. Numbness is gradually wearing off although it still feels funny to touch. Still get the odd sensation that the nerves are knitting back together. Anyone else get this??

Have to say though - I feel very cheated that I have not experienced that proud moment of pushing my baby into the world and not even experiencing labour however unpleasant it might be at the time. Hope to get pregnant again later next year and am hoping for a natural birth. Definately not requesting a c-section.

Does yours sometimes feel like a dull ache behind the scar as mine does now and again??? Its just over 4 months now so would have thought the main healing was over but maybe the nerves knitting back could explain it. Can you please tell me what your odd sensations are like as I was getting concerned but hate my Dr's so was trying to avoid going esp as it probably wouldn't be there when i have an appt!

where did u have ure baby

hi there, new to pp. just wanted to share my experience. I had my first baby in December 05, after a reletavely short labour, it was decided that I needed an emergancy cesarean. Have to say that it wasn't as bad as I expected, (apart from having to stay in hospital for 4 days!) The recovery was quite good, but frustrating at times, especially trying to do christmas shopping a week after the birth. Scar still twinges even now, so don't panic. Am definately going to try for a natural birth next time. Can't say I felt cheated, as I had gone through the whole pregnancy with the sam attitude, which was "whatever will be, will be" so was quite relaxed about the whole thing.
