Hope Jack's feeling better. How horrible for him(and you) and a nasty place to be stung too.If he'd had an allergic reaction to the sting it would've been exactly the right thing to do.Some people have severe reactions to stings.I'd think how were you supposed to know. With hindsight you can say maybe the swelling was cos of where the stings were,or maybe they were a reaction. You can only say after,at the time you have to act on instinct and do what you think is right.
We have an insect bite sort of pen thing for any bite or sting. It's ammonia so neutralises the sting, sometimes takes more than one dose.TCP is also good for wasp stings.
Anti histamines are just anti allergy things. We have a bottle of Piriton syrup for the kids and something similar for grown ups.If you don't have allergies in your family you won't have them in your cupboard.
I've taken mine up the hospital for sillier things than that, raisin up the nose, raisin in the ear,a swollen knee that healed itself overnight,a split lip that stopped bleeding the minute they were finally ready to see us.It's difficult to know what to do for the best,we're not doctors, nurses whatever. What's obvious to them isn't to us,I think they forget that sometimes.Don't feel bad for taking him up there
