Hi - I certainly wasn't at all tempted to get one when I was pregnant, as romantic as the idea is. The easiest and safest way to judge the health of your baby is by movements, as long as the baby is moving everything will generally be OK, with the absence of other symptoms. As some others have said, if you can't hear the heart because baby has moved into a different position, you'll panic and that in itself isn't good for the baby. Some things should be in the hands of professionals only I feel. And what on earth do you do with it after the birth?! Any ideas?!!
