Thankyou both of you

It went well the dietitian agrees that amber's probably lactose intollerant but says she's a mystery in that her gastric gut seems to be struggling to tollerate any food, she called this true lactose intollerant and unfortunately Amber may well not grow out of it in early childhood and this could easily go on until she's 4 years old.

It was quite a relief as she was saying all the things i feel are wrong with Amber. Also with being a dietitian she had clearer ideas than the peadiatrician regarding what Amber can eat. Basically she needs bland foods with low complex sugars as Ambers body can't digest these. She's too have Williams pears (they have the lowest sugars) then potato then cauliflower.
The hope is if Amber can tolerate these foods initially she can have 2 meals a day plus a pudding and finger foods!
The dietitian had the same goal as me to simply get Amber to be able to have a meal. She will be at our appointment with the peadiatrician next week then we'll see her again another time to discuss progress.

I have to say, the service we have had has been fantastic and we've been very lucky. As always i will keep you all posted xxx

Hi
Tasha
Sounds like it went really well and that she knows what she is talking about.
A real shame about Amber's LI, but there are many alternatives.
At least with the foods she has recomended Amber will be able to eat a square meal at long last.
Hopefully the list of foods that Amber can eat will get longer and longer.
Progress at last. xxxxx

Hi Tasha,

I'm pleased the appointment went well for you. It sounds like the dietitian has been able to put you at ease about some of the things that concerned you. Fingers crossed things continue to progress for you.

Take care, Zoe x

Hi Tasha

You're finally getting somewhere!!!!

It is nice to know what you are finally up against but I suppose also knowing that she may never grow out of it is upsetting. Zoe is due to be retested when she is 3.

Yes it is good to have some answers but for some reason i have been upset today i keep thinking of Amber at christmasses and birthday just eating pear and potato!!
I gave her a bit of pear as finger food today with me holding it, she got quite excited! She did struggle with the lumps even though i'd part boiled it first to soften it so really must invest in a mesh bag.
Any sign of a dietitians appointment for Ethan yet? xx

Oh Tasha,
It must be upsetting, but try to keep positive, at least you know what you are giving her isnt going to make her poorly. You are doing the best thing!! And doing a fab job
Take care

Thanks Kas!
I was so pleased when the dietition gave us the list of foods she wants Amber to try and even stated the order so if she does react i can blame the medical staff - much better!! xx

I think at this age she does'nt know any better! She won't miss what she has'nt had. Even at nearly 3 Zoe is not really bothered she can't eat what other children have - she has never got upset that she can't eat exactly the same thing so long as an alternative is available to her. She always asks if it has milk in when she is given something by someone that is'nt me.

Thanks for that Boo i think i'm bothered more because i used to childmind a little girl who's mother wanted her to be vegan with no processed food or sweet treats (oh and she wasn't immunised either)! she was the same age as Ethan and i saw how this bothered her and now i can't believe that may be what it's going to be like for Amber.
Oh well, will start planning other ways of treating her!!!
