Hi! I had originally mentioned my little girl Alice was poorly on another thread and I was worried about hijacking someone elses topic but I just wanted to say Thanks to everyone who got through the post! My little girl seems to be much better now and is back to causing mayhem all over the house. I can't tell you how scared I was for her the other day. I think when her GP said she was going in to hospital to 'have support for her breathing' It scared the crap out of me but then to wait all night to get her X-rays back was so terrifying. Seemingly she's one of hundreds of babies and young children they've seen already with these symptoms and because we had had a confirmed chicken pox in her brothers nursery we had started out expecting slightly more than a cold and assumed it was C pox so it really wasn't until we could see her struggling to breathe (which came on so quickly) that we demanded she be seen. I know GPs are busy and I'll probably get wrong for saying but if you're worried ask for an emergency appointment just to check it out because we were put off by the receptionist at first who said to keep her at home because they can't treat colds. Yes! We already knew that but at the same time, we could see her struggling to get air but they couldn't so we just said we WANT one of the emergency appointments and within an hour she was at the hospital with a nebuliser. Fortunately she's okay now but she had really bad tonsilitis( and she's only tiny) and a bad chest infection but in all honesty I hadn't even considered looking for tonsilitis. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and feel for anyone whose kids aren't well at the minute. Laura are you okay? I haven't seen you post anything today?XXXX Take care, HelenXX

Glad your little girl's feeling better. It's suprising how quick they recover.

It is very scary when they are very sick, especially when they're in hospital.Arthur was very ill just after his first birthday,he couldn't breathe properly,I took him to casualty ,thinking they'd send me home, and they admitted him,put him on a drip for fluids, and gave him IV antibiotics. They did all sorts of tests and the xrays showed a collapsed lung. One doctor was saying it was pneumonia, another said a virus, and they wouldn't let  him hometill he was taking fluids. He was sick for a while, but it was suprising how they suddenly get back on their feet, and back to their selves.

We were the same, put off taking him to the GP,cos they don't treat colds.Arthur had actually had a lot of chesty coughs for his first year, but just hadn't managed to shake this one and it got really bad,but maybe I should've taken him earlier because by the time I did he couldn't keep the anti biotics down.No good stressing over it now,he's nearly 5 now, never looked back, and after the spell in hospital,no more chesty coughs.

Anyway, glad your little one's better ,and you can look forwardto a happy Christmas
