Hiya I'm new to PP and desperate for any advice on teething. My 4 month old son is in quite a lot of discomfort and has been biting his fist and anything else he can get his hands on for weeks now and as he is only 4 months theres not much I can do for him. I have tried Bongela and Dentinox and they don't seem to work and a dab of Anbesol keeps him awake all night. He doesn't seem interested in teething rings or toys and has a quick nibble before quickly moving on to his fist. I feel so terrible that I can't help him, bless!!

Hi,
sorry to hear that your little one is suffering. With my daughter I let her suck on a cold wet face towel. Not sure what to advise for night time though.

What a good idea!

The only thing i find that works for Jessica is a small amount of medised at night

Hiya,
I can't remember the full name but something parsons, its a powder that you rub on their gums. Can't think of anything else? Oh, maybe calprofen? Not sure what age you can use this one though. It seems ages ago now and my brain still hasn't returned!

Maz, my daughter is the same! She will chew anything, including fingers should anyone be daft enough to think that she just wants to hold their finger!!

Aston and parsons powder and there is another make which are granules. You can get them in boots. My mate swears by them!!

I use Anbesol and Calopol during the day and Calopol-Night at night ( it's really the same as medised).

I gave that to katelin and it sent her loopy( bit like her mother)
It was like a stimulant to her. Will be avoiding that in future.

Thanks for the advice! I have given him a cold wet face towel and it seems to be working wonders during the day and have bought some teething granules from boots today so hoping they do the trick before bed tonight. I had the same problem as lucyanne with the calpol night sending him nutty, I was wondering when Hayden was gong to start rolling right over and back again and lastnight he discovered he could do this in his cot, he was doing acrobats from 11 lastnight til 6 this morning!

That's great that you've found something that works!!!!

I use the boots own teething granules or calgel and they seemed to do the trick for Cameron through the day and we use ordinary calpol at night. I also use a tommee tippee gummy teether which is great for putting teething gel on Cameron's gums, especially as he now has teeth and bites your finger whenever it goes in his mouth!!!

I have just ordered a gummy teether from ebay, I saw the review on this site and thought it was worth a try as Hayden hates me putting the teething gel on and has now started clamping his gums shut whenever my finger goes near his mouth, bless!

Maybe try the calprofen instead if the calpol did'nt work? Ibuprofen may be better as it also an anti-inflamatory.
