I know someone who was raped by her cousin but never reported it. This cousin who raped is in court this week but she feels like making this case worst for him by telling the court he raped her. Her aunt thinks his wife lied in court before about him raping her. What her aunt dont realise is that its true as he told her the night he raped her. As he was in prison for rape before for someone and for what he did to his wife. Her aunt told her mum that even the judge thought it was weird how she was scared of him but when it the courtroom while he was being sentence but had to give evidence behind the screen.
Its hard for my friend as she has a baby and move on.
She wants to stay out of it but dont want to upset her aunt or cousins. She want to tell the court what he did to her because the family and supporting him and show them how much hurt she feels. She feels he cant get away with this thing now too as her aunt asked her mother to do a written statement for him to get off. She is so upset even for her mum to consider doing this. How do I help her and don't know what to say she should do?

hi mummy01
this is realy difficult!
does her mum know that this happend to her too!!
he shouldn't be able to get away with what he abviously think is acceptable in this day in age.
what does her partner think!! does he know!!
you need to support her no matter what her desision is only she can decide!! but if it was me i would want him locked up so that her can't do it to anyone else

If it were me I would tell the court not just for revenge but because I have heard that rape cases often are not followed though to conviction often enough. (I can undertand why, shame family pressure, his-word-against-hers etc)I would hope I was strong enough to at least try to overcome these. I would like to feel like I am helping the current victim get her justice. If this rapist has commited another crime he needs to be stopped of he may do it a third, fourth fith time.
