Just thought i would start an amusing post since I was getting all excited about christmas. A couple of years ago my husband bought me an apron and matching oven gloves for christmas - every year I make hints that I want an eternity ring and last year I even said 'maternity' ring as I was pregnant with his second child and every year my hopes are dashed. Mmmm...I wonder what it could be this year....a screwdriver set so I can put batteries in the kids toys. Last year I said i wanted underwear and hoping for something lacy i got a multi-pack of M&S large white pants. Luckliy a few other things aswell other wise he would have really has his goose cooked!

Hi Boo,

You are not the only one. I can't complain as James is very good to me but one year I needed a new hoover and that was my Christmas present!! As you can probably guess I wasn't to pleased and luckily he has learned his lesson.

Hi girls
John always buys really practical stuff for my christmas - i've had a hairdryer, food processor and last year a new cooker. I mentioned the other day that we need some new pans, hmmm wonder what'll be in my stocking on christmas morning!!!
Bless him, he really doesn't have much of a clue. I can't even get cross with him because he thinks he's done really well getting something that i need!

Oh sorry boo but the part about m&s pants was funny!! My uncle and his girlfriend go to her native Germany just before christamas each year to buy their presents and since he met her we have received some very dodgey presents!! I don't mean to be ungrateful but last year i got a porcellain doll and a lace doiley!!
I must say there taste in clothes for the children is fantastic and they get spoilt!!

Just thought I'd add my husbands nanna gets all the women in the family exactly the same jumper/cardigan just in different colours. Every year she does the same. The men however get a wide range of presents - some actually quite nice!

I am quite lucky as my fiance tends to buy me decent presents. My birthday is Christmas eve and so he has double trouble! He knows he can;t go wrong with a Liverpool footy shirt, however last year I was slightly miffed to see he had bought me a bigger size that i would have chosen. As it happens I got pregnant over Christmas and so the bigger size came in handy!!!!!!!! He also treated me to converse type pumps with velcro fastening, also very handy when my feet were so swollen that nothing else fitted!

Hi everyone. Sounds like men in general are hopeless, a friend of mine is always complaining that she writes a list every time and he ignores it completely. I am the envy of my friends as my husband is a great shopper and has never really gone wrong, from the surprise first Valentine's Day together that he told me he refused to celebrate and then bought me two gorgeous sets of Calvin Klein underwear, the vintage Gucci coat and handbag he found in St John's Wood, the pendant he got for our Wood anniversary - a wooden hexagon with seven diamonds set in it - he is just so good. He, however, isn't so lucky - he has everything he wants and if there is something he fancies, regardless of the time of year, he goes out and buys it, ruining several birthday and Xmas present ideas in the process. Any present ideas for men sincerely welcome!
