Hi, I was wondering what natural alternatives there are to using head lice shampoo? I have found some that are pesticide free but they are quite expensive.

Honestly i really don't think is! if your child had lice, treat with something like Hedrin to kill the lice and eggs, otherwise you'll never get rid of it and the cycle just keeps on going and going and the infection spreads to all the other kids at school. I know some people comb and comb with heavy conditioners to try and remove the lice and eggs BUT having tried this myself, it does not work and is not effective.
If you have an outbreak, use the chemicals.

Headlice are tricky. Once you get them they are notoriously hard to get rid of!!
I treat them with Full Marks, to get rid of them!
But, once they’re out there are lots of preventative methods that are natural and quite effective!
I put a few drops of Rosemary, Lavender and Geranium essential oil into the kid's shampoo and it works great.
Then as a back up for my girl's hair, I put the same mix of essential oils into some water, shake and spray it onto her hair in the morning after putting it up. The smells of the oils seem to keep the little creatures away!! Just a note of caution though - I've read that Rosemary shouldn't be used around people who are pregnant or epileptic.
This website also has a few other remedies that you could try https://www.baseformula.com/blog/aromatherapy-a-z-nits
I hope this helps.

That's advice. Hopefully when I have got rid of them I can use a more gentle approach to keeping them at bay!
