Read online today that rear facing car seats should ideally be used until the child is 4 years of age. That's standard in Sweden apparantly and they are proven much safer. My hubby has now taken this very seriously and is on a hunt for a new car seat for our little one as he's out-grown his old car seat. Lets see if he can find one as they don't sell them in Mothercare or Kiddicare....

I have also heard that children should stay rear facing for as long as possible but there arent that many car seats around once they are passed the baby seats that are rear facing. Cant understand why they make them forward facing if its not that safe.

I have been wondering this too, haven't seen one at all anywhere. Annacleo did you find one?

Yes we bought one called 'Be Safe' from 'Secureatot'. They are Swedish made and according to the lady who started to sell them here they should be out in larger shops soon.
